maybe i take a picture of my garden. but it looks like all i grow are dog shits.
Can't you make a specific dog run? Or plant things in raised beds and pots?
Jane
nah, she's really pretty good about things. digs a lot though. thats the worst. stands on things lol. i figure its going to be survival of the fittest vegetables.

Brilliant stuff Jane!
Lots of potential in those empty plots, I reckon.
I don't have a garden or a balcony, but I did quite well with herbs on the window-sill a couple of years ago. Might have to get that going again.
Thanks for sharing and spreading that good rainbow stuff around.

I grow flowery bits between stuff, helps a bit with keeping pests away. I also do companion planting...ie 'sweet 'n' sour'...carrots with chives. Same principal basically as dandelions can always be found within 50ft of nettles.

Indeed...so many gardeners just don't know to do this, because no one ever told them.

You can grow tomatoes indoors and lettuce. You can get small/dwarf tomato plants now. Not sure I would give them a go...all that genetically modified stuff. But tomatoes grown indoors can last up till Christmas if you take care of them. I plan to grow as many tomato plants as I can so I can harvest loads for the winter to make bolognese sauce, tomato soup (nothing like home made tomato soup..mmmmmm), tomatoes on toast etc.
Here's a vid from the Garden Girl series..this one specifically shows indoor gardening. There is a whole series of vids on youtube...enjoy

i think apples are great. i eat 3 or 4 a day. so that's 4 doctors out of a job..
but fruit trees in the yard... i've never had a decent apple from anyone with a tree. they are always wormy, small, kinda soft, and sour. not like orchard fruit; crispy and sweet and huge. its like opposite apples.

I love this idea Imagine if everyone did it! I've got a big back garden which is going to waste really, so I should pull my finger out and do some experiments
experiment with your garden or your finger
We have started to plant herbs and root crops in the woods we call the departure lounge, I will explain at a later date as to the name, If we get some place long term we will get what we would class as essential live stock
ps how do you post pics

If you want veg..you are going to need to be planting now P...otherwise you will only be left with herbs, tomato plant from garden centre and lettuce! Waiting until May doesn't make much difference even up in Scotland.

This is partly true, now is an ideal time to be raising stuff, but sowing different veg takes place at different points of the year. Also both at home and on the farms I succession plant. It would be rather silly to sow all your salads at the same time for example. Really the only time that isn't really utilized for sowing is the very depth of winter.

Haha
I'm not sure how to post pics. I sent Jane a pic of our garden, she said it has wonderful potential. I'm looking forward to getting started on this very daunting task of transforming it! I haven't got a clue about growing stuff...ah well, we've all had to start somewhere
