I can't stand Murphy. Mainly down to the fact that he's a pompous condescending bastard who's had FAR too much to say in regards to Ronnie's activities on and off the table! He's just a jealous fuck who knows he can NEVER walk in O'Sullivans shoes

He's also a child who apparently was bullied at school (for reasons that for me are clear to see why ) so his parents removed him at the age of 10, or thereabouts... after which he then spent ALL day EVERYDAY in snooker halls learning how to play. We'd ALL be fucking great snooker players if we'd had the chance to skip school altegether and play all day

... he can however play bloody well - annoys the shit out of me

Basically, we rent this house from people who run a bus & coach hire service. The son, who's house this was, is good friends with Steve Davis's brother who makes snooker tables for a living. When there are any professional matches in Aberdeenshire, my landlords are the company who couriers the players around.

A few years back, the World Open was held in Aberdeen and after the match my landlord made arrangemnts to purchase the table. Which he did. Then he had a special building built to house the table, with all the special little details such a room would have... it's so cool

Anyway... fast forward to a few years ago when we started renting the house.

When we came to view the place, they showed us the snooker room. Suffice to say I just about blew on the spot
They had no idea at that point what snooker does to me... so what ensued was one of the biggest 'die on the spot' moments my other half has ever had to endure

Soon as they said what it was and more to the point, that Ronnie had played on it, I lost the plot basically and totally forgot for a few minutes that I was trying to get a lease on the house.
I immediately began to stroke the table back and forth with long lingering movements as I briefly went off into my head picturing all sorts of nonsense... then I leaned down and inhaled the table fully expecting to get a whiff of Ronnie as I did so. When I came to my senses and looked at my other half and prospectus landlords, they where all just looking at me in total disbelief... with him 'indoors' as red as a beetroot. Thought I'd blown it to but thankfully I hadn't. After the initial shock on their faces, the landlords began to laugh. Thank fuck!

To this day I have no idea why I did that... it was a purely spontaneous reaction and one which I certainly didn't see coming

Turns out, part of the condition of lease, is that we keep the building heated to maintain the temperature for obvious reasons. I DID try and convince them to leave me the key but given that the tables worth probably more than everything I own, it's understanable the answer was no

It kills me that it's just there but I can't do anything about it

Plenty of snooker clubs in your neck of the woods no doubt irre...just like there are in mine. Most of em are open 24hrs too, which suits night owls like us

Some can be dodgy places tho, specially at night, so best do a bit of research before choosing one to join. Membership is quite cheap as a rule.

I'm strictly mediocre at snooker myself...pool is my game

Got a couple of mates who are very good though. One very nearly went professional years ago. He reckons his ability is the product of a mis-spent youth

Dodgy gaffs with men wearing sheepskins and dripping in gold...maybe I'm thinking of mockney gangsters from films
I'll do some research. I really want to pick up a cue and have a crack. Get it out of my system at the very least
