The south has got it pretty bad apparently.
Not so bad here oop north, even though it has been a very dry winter...perhaps cos Manchester gets its tap water direct from the lake district where it never stops raining

I suspect it has a lot to do with proposed metering and price hikes actually, but then I'm a glass half empty kinda guy.

I don't like being right about these things all the time, but I invariably am. It's somewhat of a burden actually...
Also, I just noticed what I did there with the drought thing and the glass half empty thing and it honestly didn't occur to me at all while I was typing it. See, I'm funny without trying. Not to mention modest, to boot.
Fantastic.

hmmm. its going to storm here tonight. i like a good storm. rolling thunder and driving rain and wind, and the clouds make it look like the sky is bearing down on us. i can see why people thought it was signs from gods and stuff.

I love storms too. Nothing like a good crack of thunder and lightening. Great stuff.

Wetter than a haddock's bathing costume round our way! Trouble is, it's been so dry lately, that the water is simply running off the surface rather than going into the ground to replenish the water table, thereby causing flash floods (so I hear, anyway!).

Proper storms scare me. But I'm a coward when it comes to Mother Nature , she is a formidable force.
Thunder and Lightening.....NO THANK YOU ....too scary!

The climate (UK) seems to be turning drier. Drier winters for a start.

Never stopped raining in winter when I was a kid.
Edinburgh has rather different weather than Manchester though, always has. Its wetter and milder down here.
& its not just the fact that you are further north either. There is geography involved too...Manchester is surrounded by hills to the north & east, so the prevailing Atlantic weather systems get 'trapped' over us so to speak.
You are open to the east so your weather is more influenced by the North sea. Colder & drier.

Not sure I buy that either dg. Where I am, it has rained almost every day in April so far - I've been monitoring it as I've been waiting for a good 'drying' day.
Far as I can remember though, April's always wet and winters generally are just dark and cold.
God, I love this country.
