| http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17821630A sign of the times? Sad to say but I think the fact that because people are suffering financially they are finding it harder to take care of their pets, however actual deliberate sadistic cruelty cases seem to be on the rise. Anyone who can hurt a defensless animal is imo one step away from doing the same to a vulnerable human . I think anyone who has ever been cruel to an animal should never be allowed to work in a care enviroment or with children. |

| I can't tell you how badly the cruelty, abuse and neglect towards animals effects me, its like everything that is wrong with humanity in one horrendous action.
To a certain extent we have free will an freedom of choice - but animals bought as pets or as status symbols or slaves/food for humans depend entirely on us to ensure a standard and quality of life.
There is absolutely no need for an animal to be abused or neglected it is the entire fault of the human responsible for them. The same goes for children. |

| ^^ am totally in agreement with you there, thoreau. Cruelty to animals or children really affects me - I find it hard to read newspaper reports about it. What is wrong with some people?! Mandy |

A sign of the times? Sadly, I believe so. I think as things get worse and society breaks down more, this type of occurance will only increase. |

| Is it true? Are the "facts" and "figures" real? Animal cruelty is on the rise...they've pulled out numbers and the old percent symbol %...Part of me thinks this is a part of a nationwide animal microchipping agenda.
Could be true though... |

Could be true though... Good observation, young Jedi. Remember peoples...who wants you to think a certain way about this issue? Particularly given the source of this story.

| Nice one Irre, the more I think about the elite and their barbaric fox hunts, seems strange they would even care about the suffering of any animals, so why now? In saying that these waves of cruelty are often due to a lack of empathy which is being cultivated and nourished to fit the agenda.Dehuminisation. I am watching this with interest, at a microcosmic level. |

| Interesting thought irre. Very coincidental that they are pushing the chips and stating that you should be vetted ( ) to own a dog etc at the same time. |
