Link wasn't working right for me peabrain so I've included another
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/100-families-told-to-sleep-in-gardens.17246175 Cheers Yeah Glasgow is a city full of great architecture and I like it's diversity, however the poor sit on every street corner in the centre of the city begging, while the rich sit mere metres away supping on their cocktails and pretending they don't see them. |

| You can see why some some from the eastern block come over here and head straight for the hills to live off the land its a much safer option if you can do it |

| I perhaps don't feel as shocked as I should. The astonishing divisions in this country were brought home to me today when I was at the laundrette waiting for stuff to dry and I idly looked across at a nearby Daily Fail newspaper. Two headlines shared the front page: 10,000 children were taken into care in the past year; and Adele is now topping the female "Rich List" with earnings of £20 million for SINGING (quite blandly, too).
It's such a shocking state of affairs that I get in danger of becoming numbed from it. |

I can understand that, I had to give myself a good kick up the backside recently, I was starting to almost slip into a state of learned helplessness. I don't thing it's fair for someone to earn £20 for singing as you so aptly put it 'quite blandly', never mind £20 million. |

I so have to agree: this "learned helplessness" is bombarding people from every angle. The "We Can't Do Anything About It" attitude is almost back to pre-Dickensian times. It's just so ENRAGING sometimes that if only we could ALL realise that together we could ALL easily do a lot about it, everything might change for the better. But the apathy seems to have people anaesthetised to the extent that we just stand idle while FAMILIES get told to sleep in the garden, in Modern Day Britain. Crazy. |

Crazy. hiya all..... ..good thread, Aye, my tendency is to think this is the forerunner whatever the UK equivalent to the fema camps are in the uk...(something akin to the old workhouse?).Is feudalism next? Did it ever really go away? As I Brit living in the ussa,...watching both sides of the pond, I think first they'll take the children and we all know what a corrupt and evil racket that is......but it's ominous everywhere , rationing is on it's way , actually it's arrived !!! One wonders' when the round-ups' will start and /or the forced relocation into homes with spare rooms...... Whatever, whichever......it's the States' deliberate actions to debilitate and control. |

That's kind of happening here already due to recent/upcoming changes in legislation which mean those unfortunate enough to not be able to find work are unable to stay where they are (even though they are residing in government funded 'affordable' housing, apparently). Upcoming 'events' of this year aside, people really are in for a very rude awakening next year, if they haven't got the message by then. Britain is going to be a very different place post 2012 imo, and not particularly a place I'd care to stay in if I had any choice at all in the matter. |

I'm mentally prepared for any shit they throw at us. I hate the fucking goverment with a passion, have always hated the scum. Sucking the life out of us all.I've watched people work their hands to the bone and in their twilight years given no dignity, dying in poverty. I'm more concerned about folk less fortunate than me just now.I can't winge too much ..yet. I have an advantage though, we all have an advantage as we are one step ahead, we know their evil plans for us and I for one know we are growing in number. |

I'd luv to come back to merry ol' but I know my chances are better here in the NW. I'll be back for a visit no doubt but any ideas of relocating back are unrealistic...here I can possibly still get self sufficient but if it's not one thing, it's another ..waiting for tons of fukushima radiated rubbish to hit the coast soon. What upsets me is the amount of empty housing left to rot by local councils , rows upon rows....I sometimes think this homelessness is intentional, criminal neglect. |
